4:4:4 RGB Dual-Link Settings
Hi All,
My first time working with 4:4:4 HDCAM-SR layoffs, so I’m hoping somebody can confirm my settings… FCP 7.0, 7.0 Kona Driver w/ All Setups installed.
We want to lay off 4:4:4 10-bit RGB. The source is an uncompressed TIFF sequence (16-bit that will be truncated). I have the sequence compressor set to AJA 10-bit RGB, the render settings set to RGB, the video output set to 1080p 23.98 10-bit RGB DL, and the Kona Control Panel set to do Dual Link.
Questions that have arisen:
When the sequence auto-renders, is FCP truncating to 8-bit?
Should the compressor be 10-bit LOG RGB instead for TIFF?
We’re monitoring using the SRW-5600’s format conversion (over single link on a scope), and the levels seem awfully hot (compared to when we laid a 4:2:2 YUV version as a preview), is there a filter we need to use to legalize RGB, or is this a product of the deck’s format conversion? Thanks so much for any insight you can all give me. I’m just second-guessing myself, and want to make sure we get this right when the final layoffs come in a few weeks.
