    Definitely!

I’ve got a workflow. Not sure it’s the best but it works!

Capture my 4:3 footage as 16:9, then go into video effects enabling the motion dropdown unchecking the box for Uniform Scale (within Scale Width) and just change the width from 100 to 135. Walla it’s now unstreched my 4:3 anamorphic footage. I exported an Uncompressed Microsoft AVI. Then in Encore I just let it transcode progressive, built a 16:9 dvd and burn.

  • I’m not sure if you really need to unsqueeze the footage during exporting. You need to designate the DVD as 16:9 format in the DVD authoring program. DVD players will unsqueeze the footage to the correct display, either full screen 16:9 widescreen or Letterbox in 4:3 TV.

I use Apple’s DVD Studio Pro, but DVDs share the same formatting outputs.

Yeah sounds good. In my test I brought in some 4:3 footage(for motion menu in same project) and it just stretched to fit the 16:9 dvd. So yeah it seems to work.

    Thanks.
