Amazing to me how no one is talking about SAN now, and everyone is interested in NAS.

Amazing how the price of 40G Ethernet is the same price as 10G Ethernet was just a few years ago, now that 10G is cheap.

Many think that 40G Ethernet is a joke, and no one needs it.
As 8K is about to become “normal” at NAB 2016, 40G will not be
    a “future concept”.

The world keeps moving forward. Only old people don’t pay attention.

Could not agree more with this, Bob. Neil’s doing 40G direct to his Windows machines now over NFS and SMB with the ShareStation and he’s able to stitch VR in 10k with this. It very much opens up 4k DPX and EXR workflows for VFX as well. When Thunderbolt 3 hits, you’ll be able to do this on the Mac too… 40G into a 10G switch is already commonplace on the facility side.

In general, the need for this can’t be ignored in terms of where this industry is headed. To be honest, I don’t think anyone knows what will be possible when the switch in the mainstream workflow happens.
