  • 4 -1Gb ethernet connection to San stoarge?

Hmurchison posted the possibility of overcoming the 1Gb ethernet bandwidth by having 4-1Gb ethernet connections going into a switch. In this configuration, there would be 4 ethernet ports on the san side going into the switch and a single 1 Gb channel going out to each workstation on the client side.

Is anyone offering this kind of solution?

Are there any technical hardware or software issues that need to be solved before this is possible?

“Teaming” the Gigabit links does not result in an improvement in link speed but rather a wider pipe that can support more users without degrading as poorly as a single link. Sorry for the misinformation people. I evidently fell into the same misconception that many have.

Is this the Michael Hughes I know and love?

P.S. – sorry if it’s not the Michael Hughes I’m thinking of.

What was the name of that place again? Oh yeah – Abraxis. I have fond memories of Stephane on the winding staircase – he’ll be there too. Coffee is on me.
