    Hi all creativecow gurus,

from my previous post, I found out that Combustion has almost a seamless blend with 3ds max with a format called “.rpf”. It exports a variety of passes for easy compositing. I’m looking to get the most out of my current applications, AE & 3ds max. Are there ways to import:

    1. paths from max into AE
    2. z depth from max to AE

Basically, what is offered in an rpf file format. I’m looking into getting MAX2AE which i see helps in importing lights and cameras. Can anyone help me on this? It would be really appreciated.

    Thanks a bunch

    Hi Bluriie.

In the past I have used .rla renders from 3DS MAX which I know have a channel for z-depth information, which you can then access in AE by using effects from effects>3D channel.

I can’t remember any way of exporting paths though.

I am about to look into using Max2AE myself. So far it looks like it will allow you to do some pretty cool stuff.
