    Hi

I have a sequence that requires DVE/3D warp and PIP effects on clips with an alpha channel (ie text from text tool/Marquee and animations from After Effects)

When I nest any of the above effects the background layer is re-sized as well. This means I can’t move and resize anything without a copy of the next layer(s) coming with it. I cant find a way of making the heirachy change so that I can move and re-scale only the object with alpha – not the full screen.

Surely there is a simple way of doing this that I just can’t see – can anyone help.
(BTW the simple moves available through the matte key settings do work correctly but are not sufficiently sophisticated for this job)

I am working in PAL DV 25 420

    Thanks.

Open your effect editor for your Matte keys (titles or imported movies with alpha). In the lower right hand corner of the effect editor you’ll see a box that says 3D. Hit that to promote the effect to 3D and you’ll have the same parameters to control as the PIP effect. No reason to nest anymore, and the titles/animations will scale independently of the background.

    Michael.

    Michael

That seems to do everything I need on titles and animated models. I think that was the only button I didn’t try.

    Thank you very much.
