3D Text Overlap in After Effects
Hi!
There’s an effect I’ve seen and I’m trying to recreate yet unsuccessfully.
It’s this 3D shadow overlap effect. I understand how offset letters along the Z axis, but how do I make separate shadow for each letter? I tried stroke, glow, drop shadow, but Ae treats the layer as a whole, not each letter separately.
I will much appreciate your advise!

Or, with per-character 3D enabled, the text in a single layer, and a range animator pushing the position of the letters back in space progressively, use a light to cast the shadows. Set the text to cast and accept shadows, set the light to cast shadows, and position the light in front of the 3D text.
