I need to make speed lines that go from edges of screen to center (as the character is going towards the camera) and then from right to left (as the camera rotates around the character so we see his profile as he is still moving forward, facing from left to right but always staying in center of screen). I found plenty of tutorials on how to make both but none of those techniques would allow me to change the direction of the speed lines and animate them in such a 3D way. Anyone know any tricks for this? Thanks

Take a look at CC Particle World. You’d need to set the particle rate really high, and the producer radius’s to 0. So that the particle appears as a single stream. Then in physics you’d set the gravity to be horizontal and quite high and set the velocity to 0. Then duplicate this layer a bunch of times, placing particle producer for each one in a different spot.

I ended up using CC Particle World, I just made the lines look the way I liked and animated the position and rotation of the effect to get the 3D rotation I wanted, and reversed the animation so it doesn’t go from emitter outward but towards the emitter. I didn’t even have to make multiple particle producers. Thanks so much for your help Graham!
