I am an editor full time and I also do motion graphics. I just did a logo for a spot in nashville that is about 6 secs long. it’s fully 3d with about 7 objects. and took about an 2 hours with render. what is the (between prices) usually for 3d design? (i.e. $50-90 hr)

I work with compositing mostly but all my pricing for editing, compositing, 3d are all the same.
My prices vary depending what they are for. Small projects, say less than a day I tend to take a box price but projects that take longer I go hourly…longer the project less per hour.

I dont go under 50 per hour but I am also not in the US so hopefully someone else answers too.

My suggestion would be to step back and look at it for what it is. The spot is under 10sec, similiar to any motion DVD you find such as Digital Juice Jumpbacks. Point 2 is that is took 2 hours to complete. The main question to always answer is what is your time worth. Look at it this way. If you work not working on this project what would you have been doing with your time? I say go with a price thats just about 10% – 15% more than what you would have charged if you were editing something. Without seeing snap shots of your work I feel we cant but a $ number on your skills. I hope this information gets you some help. Good luck

I think around $50/hr. is about right for this sort of work, but it varies by location, i.e., big-city markets generally get more, small markets less.
