3d position to 2d screen-space – expression?
hey guys,
on ae enhancers i’ve seen a script for converting the 3d position of an object from lightwave to a 2d position.
is there any way to do a similar thing for afx?
i have several nulls in 3d space with a camera from maya. i need to create particles where the emitters match the position of the nulls, but can’t do it inside the original comp, as the scale of the scene (due to maya camera) is extremely small, meaning even particles with a radius of 0.1 look like beach balls.
previously i have been bringing my 3d comp into a new 2d comp and motion tracking, then using the track info to position my emitters, essentially faking it.
but is it possible to translate the 3d position to a 2d position that is visually the same, using expressions? thus eliminating the tracking stage and saving a good deal of time (as if the scene changes, everything needs to be retracked – expressions would solve this).
any suggestions appreciated.
thanks,
scott.
