I’m working with AE 6.5 on a PowerPC Mac…I deliver final project files for retouching on a PC using AE7. I’ve been told that there are issues with my 3D layers/Comps with “collapse transformation” enabled. (Most source files are IllustratorCS files). The position of the layers are shifting out of alignment in the translation from Mac to PC. Can anyone explain why this happens??? Are there any known issues that cause this, going from AE 6.5 to 7 or Mac to PC??? Thanks in advance for any help.

[Michael Wilfong] “The position of the layers are shifting out of alignment in the translation from Mac to PC.”

Is this something that you notice in bringing it into AE7 on a PC or that you hear about from someone else who is looking at the files? If the latter, I think you should try to confirm that things are in fact changing between versions/platforms for yourself.

Also, is the shift consistent? How much does it shift?

I have been working with 3d projects, bouncing between Macintosh and Windows versions of AE7 for several months without any issues at all. So there’s hope if, indeed, you are the direct cause. If you were to update, the issues _might_ go away. Expensive gamble, true.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

The ‘shifting’ is NOT consistent…in fact, some projects work just fine. I have confirmed the “weirdness” with someone else and they’re baffled too. aargh.
    Thanks for the responses.
