3D Flag update?
Posted by Dave Navarro on June 5, 2008 at 5:08 pmAny chance of ever getting a 3D flag update that supports loops without all the crossfade work?

It’s actually a pretty tough problem getting this to work. Since the Flag is a dynamic physical simulation it starts looking wonky if we fudge the movement to get it to do a loop. There are several things I’d like to add to Flag, perhaps at some point we can revisit it to see if there’s a new way of doing this that looks better.

July 18, 2008 at 7:35 pmThere seems to be some sort of “randomness” involved because I can’t get it into a perfect rhythm of any kind.
What you might consider for “looping” purposes is to just pre-create 3 or 4 simulations that perform loops with various degrees of “wavyness” and just allow those.
That aside, one feature I’d like to see is the ability to keyframe the “corner-pins” of the flag so that I could put a flag on a rope that is also being effected by the wind for more realistic look.
