    What you could do is make your figure a 3d layer. Then offset the position of the duplicate layers, making each one ten pixels behind (in z space) the one in front of it. You could also do a render>fill on all your duplicate layers to recreate the look of your reference picture.

    use this position expression to automate this process.

    z_offset=3;
    z=(index-1)*z_offset;
    [value[0],value[1],z]

    Zaxwerks invigorator is another option.

    Yep, by importing your AI (Illustrator) vector shape in it.

    The Shatter effect too is an option, look for some tutorials on the COW (or Google) for more information. Type “After Effects Shatter 3D” or whatever.
