I’m just moving the camera from one object backwards in the Z space to another. As I reach the other object, I’d like the camera to appear to “slow” down and gently drift away from the object, and then move off quickly to the next object. But when I make the second keyframe where the “drifting pause” is, AE adds this weird loopy movement to the camera as if I added some weird frames in between the two keyframes. I’ve tried changing the interpolation to no avail. I’ve tried adjusting only the Z parameter for Position and also both the Z parameters for Point of Interest and Position, and yet I get the same weird movement between the two keyframes.

Hopefully that made sense. What am I doing wrong or missing?

Maybe I’m learning and posting at the same time. I changed the Z position keyframes to linear rather than trying to set them for Easy In and Easy Out. That seems to have settled the inter-frame issue. So, I assume my learning problem is understanding how to use the Easy In/Out feature without screwing up the movement.

    Any tips are appreciated.

You are right there brian. The type of keyframe that you have applied “will” determine your camera movements and fluidity. My Best advice to you is to play around with the keyframes till they suit your comp and you are happy with the end result. allot of people i talk to seem to think that “easy ease” are the way to go and then play around with the position settings,This is not necessarily always the case. Im not to sure if there is a tutorial on keyframes in the podcast section. But do check out Andrew Kramers Tutorial on advanced camera movements over at VideoCoPilot.net
