32-bit floating point
Hello-
Just doing a simple DV capture via FW. The audio rate is 48 K on source and in FCP seq. However, the source audio format is 16 bit integer and the sequence will not let me change to 16. It just stays at 32-bit floating point. As a matter of fact, it won’t let me change any of the audio parameters. BTW- I am making changes and then creating a new seq and the changes are still not reflected. Trashed prefs in hope of something buggy but no go.
Any thoughts?

Why do you want to change it?
Read the manual Chapter 3 page 49.

I want to change it because I’m getting a warning saying the source clip’s settings and the seq ssettings are not compatible thus POTENTIALLY causing sync issues. Don’t know which manual you mean as after all these years I’ve got about two dozen. Please specify..
Also- I SHOULD be able to change the parameters of the audio in the seq settings no???

Sorry for the busted manual cite – I meant _Volume III_ Page 49 of the Final Cut Pro 5 User Manual…. (click on “Help”, then “Final Cut Pro User Manual”)
Anywhoo, I reckon the disparate settings are not the 32bit floating point vs. 16bit integer (Final Cut exclusively uses 32 bit for sequences, you can’t change it. the manual explains why).
You can change the audio settings under “General” tab in “Sequence Settings”, but this probably won’t solve your problem.
Is it possible that your DV source audio was recorded at 32Khz? Are you using the DV Easy setup?

Thanks Bill. It’s not causing a problem but I’d love to figure it out. The source audio is 48k as referenced by my DSR-40 front panel and the properties of the captured clip in FCP. The only difference I can see is the audio format incompatibility.
