Activity Forums Boris FX Particle Illusion 3.0.7 OSX installation problem

  • 3.0.7 OSX installation problem

Posted by Nigel Wainwright on September 5, 2008 at 3:22 pm

When I run the installation package for 3.0.7 the installation jumps from the ‘License’ stage to the ‘Check Location’ stage, missing out the ‘Destination Select’ option. It then tells me I have chosen to install the software at the following path: Label, and to click ‘Go Back’. When I do this, it takes me to the ‘License’ stage and the whole process repeats itself. I cannot get to the ‘Destination Select’ option.

    Any ideas?

Just to be clear, this is the 3.0.7 update installer, not the full version installer (only the update does a “check location”).

What OS X version are you running?

There is a manual update you can do instead:

    https://www.wondertouch.com/downloads/updates/pIllusion_OSX_307_update_no_installer.zip

There is no installer — just unzip the files into your particleIllusion 3 application folder, replacing the existing files. Don’t drag the entire folder — select and drag all of the files and folders that are in the folder to your particleIllusion 3.0 folder. (does that make sense?)

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for the manual update which I could not find on the website. However, the website does offer the following download for the 3.0.7 update:

pIllusion_OSX_307_update.pkg.zip with the instructions, ‘unzip, the double-click the pkg file to start the installer’.

This is exactly what I did – I am using OSX 10.5.4.

    Regards,

    Nigel

There’s a new update installer on our site now that doesn’t have this problem:

    https://www.wondertouch.com/downloads/updates/pIllusion_OSX_307_update_a.pkg.zip

Notice the “_a” in the filename.

This one will let you choose the destination — If you haven’t done the manual install yet, please give this new installer a try.

    Alan.
