Working in InDesign 5.5: 300 dpi photos are changing to 150 dpi photos when I make my Acrobat files.

Using Highest Quality in Distiller. Under Images for both grayscale and color: Bicubic Downsampling to 300 pixels per inch; for images above: 450 pixels per inch; Image Quality: Maximum and Compression: Automatic (JPEG). Under Monochrome Images the Bicubic Downsample to 1200 pixels per inch and for images above: 1800 pixels per inch; Compression CCITT Group 4; Anti-Alias to gray: Off.

Then I turned off Downsampling and Compression and still nothing’s changed.

I ran into this problem awhile ago. It appears that the problem might be Distiller using silently the sub-sampling algorithm instead of bicubic interpolation because your downscale ratio might be between 50.x% and 99.99%. I read the following article: https://kaiser-edv.de/tmp/Downsampling-Verdeutlichung/. I just made sure my images don’t fall in the “danger range” that the article refers to.
