I understand that the CPU memory gets split when running monitors, thus taking my 256 Meg card and distribute it down to 128 / screen. Good for everything else I do in FCP, but not good for Motion. I need a lot of workspace. Regardles of how juicy the Apple 30inch display is, would my Nvidia 6800 Ultra pull Motion better on a single 30″ than dual 20″s? (The 30″ requires dual channel DVI – does that mean the same split will happen for 2 1/2s of the screen or something? Which makes better performance questionable.)

What card are you trying to do this with?

For best results, use a video card for each monitor.

I use a 30″ and much prefer it to dual monitors.

Sounds yummy. Unfortunately all my slots are taken up. My Nvidia takes up the AGP+ 1 PCI slot. In the other 2 left over I have a Sonnet SATA controller for my Raid, and a Kona2 for my HD brdcast monitor. Seems like I’ll be going for 2x 20″s after all.

    What’s your setup look like?
