Activity Forums VEGAS Pro 3 questions in one – mixer, envelopes, dvd rendering

  • 3 questions in one – mixer, envelopes, dvd rendering

I know I should know these – but the answers aren’t coming easily….

I used to be able to have my mixer on the screen at the same time as the video preview – then I pressed something and now I can only have one or the other, which makes checking sound peaks a pain. Any clues how I drag or click them back together?

I’ve used a video envelope to fade a whole track up and down against some stills on another channel – with ripple is there any way to get the envelope to ripple when inserting footage early on? At the moment when I drop a change in at the start for example the clips all ripple up and make room but the envelope stays where it is – knocking all my fades out of synch.

Rendering for PAL DVD – this one is a small project, rendered the file out as mpeg-2 with audio embedded in the same file – had to re-encode when I came to burn the DVD, what settings should I have used? Split the video and audio out at the outset?

Thanks for any advice on one or all.

You’ve docked them together. Look at the little dots in the upper left corner. Click and drag the preview screen away from the docking area. Now drag it back making sure it docks beside the mixer instead of with it.

Depending on the version of Vegas you have, you may be able to go to View, window layouts and then reset it there.

Check what ripple mode you’re using. Make sure you’re set to ripple EVERYTHING.

#1: Make sure the bitrate you use is appropriate for the length of your video so the file size is small enough.

#2: Render the audio separately as AC3 instead of embedding it in the MPEG2 file and it won’t need to be recompressed.
