I haven’t seen AE for a couple months. When I came back to it, I saw the 2018 update.

I spent some time with the Keyboard Shortcuts editing feature — very nice! I can finally use my arrow keys to frame to frame, and use the big +/- keys on the numpad for zooming.

Today I discovered that I can put colors on timeline markers — maybe that wasn’t new? — but, even better, I can set a keyboard shortcut to place the marker and pull up the dialog box in one stroke. The cursor is in the comments field, ready for typing. Those two features are already saving me time.

I gotta get back to it. Just wanted to spread the good news.

For those of us actually using 2018, note that Ae 15.0.1 was just released. It addresses a number of issues with 15.0:

From the docs, here are some new features:

[James Poulakos] “I spent some time with the Keyboard Shortcuts editing feature — very nice! I can finally use my arrow keys to frame to frame, and use the big +/- keys on the numpad for zooming.”

We could change shorcuts before, just not so easily, that is indeed a nice addition.

I Believe that already existed by pressing alt + *.

I haven’t noticed the colored markers, thanks for pointing that out.

Markers can also have duration. ☺

My biggest thing about the newest version is that we have mask access to paths – something we’ve been wanting for YEARS!
