3 minutes of horror
Hi
Just pre-planning a 3 minute horror 4K shoot in London with a Red camera (will be posting at the Red forum and cinematography as well) and just getting some set up advice.
We will be editing offline on a 8 core 3ghz, 6gig ram and a Kona 3 running FCS 2 with a 1TB RAID (remember it’s only a 3 minute film). Will be pulling in the footage at 2K to edit with but there are a couple of special effects shots that will require us looking at them in 4K on set. These effects are not CG or green/blue screen but matting some material into a 4K still (as if time stopped but a characters eyes and eyebrows can still move).
So questions are:
1. For the offline is the mac set up I’ve mentioned up to the needs, both in the edit and using the mac to examine some of the 4K on set (with appropriate monitor).
2. Does anybody have any warnings and suggestions about 4K workflow in Final Cut? Final results will remain in the digital realm, no out to 35mm.
This is an experiment just to familiarise ourselves with 4K (never done it before) and hopefully have something interesting at the end of it too. If all goes well will be moving onto a much larger project.
Thanks in advance people. Any suggestions from people who have shot 4K before will be greatly appreciated.
Story, not pixels.
