We are working on an animation film at 2K 24p and it works great. We are using an Apple Cinema Display 30″ to display 2K media and a HD CRT monitor to make the color grading. Inside Final Cut Pro you have 2K Easy Setups to start working without problems.

I don’t know the advantages of Kona3, but softwares like Final Touch will work better with Kona3.

[drollo] “softwares like Final Touch will work better with Kona3.”

    Why do you say that?

It’s my own experience as freelance with these configurations. It doesn’t mean that Multibridge doesn’t work with FT, only that FT 2K version works better with Kona3. The last time I use FT2K was in February. I don

MBE works great with FT also in 2K
the only shortcoming right now is that there is no SDI output when in 2K mode, but this supposedly is a esy fix and should be there in near future

MBE aside, does the 4:4:4 HD Pro card support 2k or HDSL out of the BNC connectors? as in could I just add a HDLink to my setup and use it with a 30 inch monitor…

    Cheers,

    Toby

    Hi Toby,

The HD Pro 4:4:4 does not support 2K or HDSL. The HDLink is not compatible with the Apple 30″ Cinema Display as it does not have dual link DVI which is used by the display.

    Thanks for the response Kristian,

Out of interest, is 2k or HDSL something that the 4 4 4 card could be capable of with software updates or is the hardware itself not able to handle it?

    Cheers,

    Toby

    Hi all
Just wondering what the full res 4:4:4 2k data rates you guys are getting?

I’m just wanting to know so we can plan what speed our raid needs to be for real time playback. I coundn’t find this info on the blackmagic website …I guess cause 2k is only a newish feature for the multibridge and isnt in the manual yet.

    thanks

    Miles
