Have a client that has a question that I think I know the answer too but thought I check with the experts here.

I belive footage source is 720p30

Footage was digitized what looks like using the 720p30 preset. All footage has an editing base of 29.97 and uses the 720p60 compressor.

Sequence settings match 29.97editing base (Drop) and using the same compressor.

When they called today they were freaking out as they recived the tech specs from the broadcaster who mandates that they produce a 720p60 (59.94) master.

The system is a Kona 2 with K Box going back to a DVCPRO 1200a and a HD1700 edit deck. Both decks see the video just fine and on screen nothing looks weird.

So the question is the Kona (which under view settings is set to 720p60) converting to 59.94 on the fly?

At the end of the day they’re worried that they will need to redigitize at 59.94. But its always been my understanding (perhaps wrong) that all DVCPRO HD is either 50 or 60. So if thats the case the kona must being doing the conversion. If anyone can set me straighten me up on this that would be great.

I’ve cross posted this in the FCP forum

    Thanks

    Robbie

Yes, it will. No worries there. When you monitor your footage out of your Kona, you are actually watching 720p60. The pulldown is being added on the fly by FCP.
