24PA Rendering to 60I

24p DV Insert 2-3-3-2 pulldown
This is used when you are going to edit the footage. Preparing 24p for editing should use 2-3-3-2 pulldown because it’s easier to remove.

24p DV 2-3-2 pulldown
This is used for final 24p out to DVD (or whatever your final media will be)

Use the one that fits your scenario. If you are done editing, use 2-3-2, if you plan on more editing use 2-3-3-2.

To clarify in my mind…

Shooting in 24P(Advance) will generate the 2-3-3-2 pulldown cadedience on the tape. When I bring video into Vegas, (checked box- Allow 24p removal when open) I am able to edit on a 24p timeline. To output to 60I tape use the 3-2-3 pulldown. Use the 2-3-3-2 method(same as the DVX) if you want to store it to tape (60I) and recaputre it to your computer for further editing.

In both render options the pulldown is therefore inserted. It’s confusing how Vegas named the template. NTSC DV 24p (4×3) “Inserting” pulldown, but not on the widescreen pulldown options. They should all read INSERTING 24p Pulldown and then the cadedience order. (2-3-3-2 & 2-3-2).

Is this thought process correct?
