We just sent an OMF file of a DVCPro 720p24 project to our mix house. They say by the end of the 45 minute show there are audio clips out of sync by as much as 6 seconds.

I’m trying to figure out if this an FCP OMF export glitch on our end or and import error at the mix house. We are maintaining a 24p workflow until the final layback.

Has anyone out there had sync issues in 24p?

    cheers,

No…never. Well, I lie, one time an audio mixer tried importing the OMF into a 29.97 project. They should make sure that they have a 23.976 project for this audio…not 29.97 and not 23.98…23.976.

And your sequence settings are 23.98 right? Not 24FPS straight up?

    24p or 23.98p?

chances are the latter. The audio house is assuming 24p and hence your drift.

    Correct, my sequence is 23.98.

I talk to the mixer and the problem was he setup a 24FPS session first and that’s were the problem started. He is now wise to the ways…

    thanks Shane.

Thanks for the props Shane 🙂

I see this happen A LOT with 23.98 and the mixhouse trying to do things at 24.
