i’ve got some footage that is 24 frame rendered mpeg4, 640×480 square pix, 44.1k that i need to work with in a 29.97 D1 afx project. i think i read a thred about converting mpeg4 to animation or some normal qtime codec to work in afx so i’m wondering how i should rerender/export the footage to use in the D1 project. (i tried interpreting the footage on import to 29.97 and separating fields but the audio gets out of sync.) also wondering if there is any point to stretching it to 720 width when i export it or just keep it at 640×480. any experience, ideas about this would be appreciated. thanks.

I’m from PAL territory, so by no means am I an expert on the intricacies of NTSC and pull-down.

But from what I know you have two viable options. Well, three.

    1. See if you can get a new source clip that at least isn’t compressed to MPEG…

    and:

    2. Convert the mpeg to interlaced 29,97 fps by interpreting it aS 23,9something fps scaling up to an NTSC comp size and adding pulldown on export. Then import into your project.

    or:

    3. Do the entire project in 24p and add pulldown to 29,97 interlaced in the end…

Hopefully someone with more NTSC knowledge will step in…
