Hello All! I’m new to this forum and am lovin’ it. I’m currently experimenting with settings (mostly bitrate) in order to get my 2 hour feature film onto a single-layer DVD with as high quality as possible. I’ve read people on this forum saying that rendering as 24fps verses 30fps will save space because of less frames to render…BUT is there any disadvantages to this? Will all DVD players automatically add the pulldown? Will I save that much space? There are a lot of threads on here about quality rendering, saving space, etc, but only a few times have I seen people recommending 24 instead of 30. Seems like a no-brainer to me. Am I missing something?

24p will change the cadence of your motion. You have to like what it does. Also, if you shot for 60i and did quick pans, they will stutter in 24p. Usually you need to shoot different for 24p making very deliberate movements to make it look good but you can try it and see. Sometimes it looks just fine.

Will all DVD players automatically add the pulldown?

    Yes.

Will I save that much space?

Well… it will save you 25% since you will be rendering 6 less frames out of every 30.
