23.98p to 59.94i using Twixtor and FCP?
I’ve searched all over the place and watched the Twixtor frame rate conversion tutorial (on both the RE:Vision site and on the Cow) but I’m still unsure if it’s possible to do this conversion using Twixtor and FCP: 1080 23.98p to 1080 59.94i.
I thought I’d be able to use the same method outlined in the tutorial, but there’s a note on the RE:Vision site which reads “Frame Rate Conversion when converting between interlaced 29.97 or 25 fps material to 23.98, 24 or 59.94 progressive material: Because FCP doesn’t recognize interlaced clips that aren’t 25 or 29.97fps, our method of conforming the frame rate within Cinema Tools does not work within FCP.”
I’m not sure exactly what this means? Is there any method for using Twixtor to convert 23.98p to 59.94i? My goal is to create a 59.94i master that has clean cuts.

First of all, you need to conform to 29.97. Drop that into a sequence following the Frame rate conversion tutorial (using 23.976 , NOT 23.98! As the source frame rate), and 29.97 as the output frame rate. That means you will apply Twixtor with a speed change of 80% (which is 23.976/29.97).
The key here: make sure the sequence you drop Twixtor on is set to have lower or upper fields first as part of the sequence settings. This will tell Twixtor to create interlaced frames!
