23.98 to 29.97 conversion Kona 3 FCP

Yes…absolutely. It can’t do it on the way in, but it does it on the way out. ALL capture cards do this on the way out. Just set the format you want to output to in the Kona Control Panel, and the card will do the rest.

Ok it does the cross convert for layoff, but this if for broadcast so my second segment does not hit the correct timecode.

In the Kona Control Panel if 1080p2398 is the Primary Format, 1080i29.97 is greyed out for Secondary.

I guess you don’t know that 23.98 timecode is NDF only then, huh? That the number you see isn’t a precise show time. If you need to hit a very specific show time, as all us broadcast editors are needing to do, then you need to calculate the time you need to make your 23.98 sequence to hit so that when you output, it hits the right timing for 29.97 delivery.

To do this I use a timecode calculator with this option built in…as I talk about here:

You set the Primary out to the format you want to output…so set that to 1080i 29.97.
