Wondering if the reason I am struggling to auto-sync is because Resolve is seeing the .wav files as 24.000fps once ingested. In the media veiwer on the source drive volume itself resolve correctly identifies the wav files as 23.976 before importing but as soon as I add them to a bin the frame rate is seen as 24.000. Normally with a video file i would change the frame rate in the clip attributes contextual menu but the option is not available for clips that are audio only since the frame rate setting is in the video section of the clip attributes menu.

    Ideas?

Are the files wav or broadcast wav with embedded timecode? If wav, then they have no frame rate. If bwf then you need to make sure the timecode is 23.976 or 24 as most professional recorders like Sound Devices can record either.

Sound Devices have free software -Wave Agent – that lets you change embedded timecode so if the bwfs are not recorded at the correct rate then that can be fixed. It will also accurately tell you what the recorded rate is.

Secondly does your project rate match the bwf frame rate? And does the camera original timecode rate match the project and audio rate? If not then you will also have sync issues. So once you determine the frame rates are all matching and reporting accurately then there might also be an issue with the way you are trying to sync, but I suggest sorting those frame rate issues first.

    Thx for your thoughts Michael.

These are broadcast wave files with a .wav extension.

Wave agent correctly sees the frame rate as 23.976 with correct embedded time code. Seems like a resolve thing …

Is Resolve a software like the old FCP that just decided to call all 23.976 files 24.000? They just liked to round off. This could cause a sync issue in a sound mix.
    I wonder,
