I am going to be filming a a short film for my video class tomorrow, i was wondering if anyone knew of a way to export a clip with an aspect ratio of 2.35 to a P2 card so that i could use that to mark up my lcd display so that i can compose the shoots using the markings as a guideline for later when i am going to crop the footage in final cut pro. As opposed to just winging it and hoping i can fix the issue with the offset feature which i wish to avoid. I am also wondering what would be the best shutter speed to use while filming, i have tried 25 and the footage seems like its sped up i have also tried 50 but i thought at 25 was the correct shutter speed because its supposed to have more motion blur i think anyways what do you think?
p.s. for anyone who was wondering i was planning to mark the screen with masking tape, not a marker or anything 🙂

There’s a widescreen matte that you can add to the footage and the aspect ratio is selectable in the filter settings.

I think you misunderstood. What i want to do is to import footage that i have already applied a 2.35 matte to, to my P2 card so that i can mark up my lcd display and use the marks as reference for when i film my other stuff. I know about the FCP post stuff but thing is that is not a very safe method cause the offset can only go so far. Thanks anyway.

GOt ya. So you want to export a P2 compliant MXF and put it on a p2 card? Why not just shoot the monitor with your camera?
MXF4mac is working on a P2 compatible exporter right now, but it’s not finished yet.
