2 Questions — Best format to export & Multicam editing

Editing mpeg2 is not a good idea. What cam do you shoot with??

You can do a multi-cam with Vegas by using add-ons like Excalibur available from https://www.jetdv.com/excalibur/multicam.php. You would need to use your Color Corrector to match clips with varying white balance levels.

I second Jeremy. Capture your footage and edit in the AVI format that you’ve captured THEN render to MPEG. Mpeg is quite frankly, at least in my opinion, a lousy format to edit in. As for multicam work, again I agree, Excalibur is a great peice of software not only for multicam but for many other things you might need to do. You can however do a multicam edit without it but it just makes thing so much easier. It’s pretty much 1 button editing.

There are some very good tutorials on color correction by Edward posted in his newsletters. Click the link under his name (find a post by jetdv) and download and read them. they’re chock full of good info.

There may be better ways but I take go to an example of one camera and hit the “capture to clipboard” button. Then in the preview window hit “Clipboard.” Now you have a still of one camera and if you put the cursor on a similar frame in the second camera you can see the changes as you adjust the second. I often use that with color curve adjustment.

Thanks for the help guys. But what I meant was, I have already captured my video in .avi format. I’m asking if I’m going to burn my completed video to a DVD in Architect, what is the best format to use? I’ve been exporting my projects to MPEG2. Is this the best format to use with DVDs?

ahhh, different question. Yes, after editing render to MPEG using the proper bitrate setting (per Edwards newletter Vol 1 # 7) with AC3 audio for DVDs
