April 28, 2010 at 12:42 amPutting two hours on a single sided DVD will give you very low quality. You would have to set the average bit-rate down to 3,800 Mbps (this is normally set to 6,000 Mbs). You would be much better off buying double-sided DVD’s or use 2 single-side DVD’s.

April 28, 2010 at 1:10 amYou are correct. I had my bit-rate calculator set to DVD-4 (3.95GB), when I set it to DVD-5 (4.7GB) I got 4696 Mbps which is closer to your 4825.

April 28, 2010 at 1:50 amI did a 2 1/2 hr. play last week with the following 2-pass VBR settings and it looked fine to me and everyone who watched it.
6,500,000 / 3,712,000 / 2,224,000
Mind you, it was professionally lit and I used a 3 CCD camera with 1/2″ chips.
Good gear makes ALL the difference in the world.
