2 G5 systems plus 2 decks???
I tried a search, but I’m not entirely sure what to search for….
We have 2 G5’s running FCP5.0.2, we have a DSR-1800 and a BetaSp read only deck (Both Sony). G5 1 has an AJA Io, and G52 has a Kona LS. We need a switcher/router(?), so that both systems can be connected to the decks at the same time without moving cables around. I found this “Comprehensive / Kramer CVG-2042 Vertical Interval, Matrix Switcher, 4×2, Component Video, Rackmountable, RS-232” at B&H, but I’m not sure that’s what we want. Should be pretty simple seeing as how we can only lay back to one of the two decks. We’re looking for something sub-$1000. Is there such a thing? If so what’s best? If so, is there one that has SDI for the DSR-1800 and Component for the PVW-2650(BetaSP)? Thanks for your help!

Absolutely. We had it connect between an Avid suite and out Art Director. She used it to layoff animations or to bring in video to her system. Flip a toggle and the lights change to show at a glance who has control. We had the unit in the Avid suite. So when the AD needed control, she would call the suite and ask for control.
