did you enter this post from your phone, or do you always type like this ? Any MacBook Pro will do. They will all run FCP x and iMovie (which I have to assume is what you are using).

It really depends on your needs and budget. They’ll all work to some extent. You can run FCPX on a MacBook Air even.

[Bob Zelin] “did you enter this post from your phone”

Bob, it’s “did u entr ths post frm ur phone?”
I’m still waiting for a “phonify” app in the App Store that can make all one’s posts look like text messages.

yes I am on my cellular device, I have read a lot of blogs or articles that suggest you need this or you need that or fcpx won’t run on this mbp or it’s not good on lion & you have to have mountain lion. I just don’t want to shell out $1500 for something that won’t be able to do the main thing I need it to do.

and also I’ve seen people say that you need a thunderbolt port or something & you need to up your stock ram. & is it possible to run fcpx without any lag on macbook air? a lot of stuff I read says no, some are in the middle & say it will crash periodically but u can do short 30 minute videos & others flat out say yes you can run it without any problems. my budget is around $1000 for this mbp. thx

the cheapest Mac Book Pro with the minimum amount of RAM
is $1199. You can get a Mac Mini, (which is fantastic) or you can buy a used computer.

A top of the line Mac Mini with 16 Gig of RAM is $1099. This will kick ass for you. And you can carry it in your backpack.

Generally Sandy Bridge Quad i7 (2011 15″ MBP) forward would be OK as they also have independent GPUs.
