Hi all. Firstly thanks for all the info everybody posts here, I have found many answers to my questions in this forum. However, I searched high and low and could not find an answer to the issue I have at hand.
I am on Final Cut Studio 2 with KONA LHe. What I am trying to do is this:

Digitize anamorphic 16×9 footage from DIGIBETA, legalize it and convert to 15×9 and put it back to DIGIBETA.
I can successfully do everything I listed above using FCP and COLOR with the exception of understanding how to convert 16×9 to 15×9..
What is the best way to do this? I would like to be able to do it by using COLOR since I am using it to legalize and all but I am open to all suggestions (compressor?)
    Cheers

Why on earth do you want it to be 15×9?

    It’s a requirement.

I’d like to know why. I’m curious like that. A small price to pay for advice. Does this involve a projector with a custom lens or something?

To answer the question. You can’t do it in Color. You can do it in Final Cut, Quicktime Pro, Compressor, After Effects, or numerous other apps. Each app has a different way to control size and aspect. After Effects is probably the easiest. Final Cut is the hardest. There is no preset for 15×9 anywhere since there are no 15×9 TV sets.

Well. I have received this for an overseas delivery requirement for a sports show. They want 16×9 and 15×9 dubs of the program. I was surprised as you guys are that it is 15×9. I have no other details of where it’s gonna end up. If that’s what they want I need to find a way to do it. Thought this is the best place to find an answer.
I don’t have After Effects but could invest in it, if it’s the way.
    Cheers

Just use Quicktime export. You can manually set the aspect.

QT does not let me change the aspect, just the size.
    Am I missing something there?

in Compressor’s Geometry controls set the Source Inset (Cropping) Crop to control to Europe Standard 1.66:1

Hey Andy thanks for the tip. One question though:
What should be the pixel aspect selection on that window? Should it be PAL CCIR 601, PAL CCIR 601 (16×9), or custom?
The footage is Anamorphic 720×576 Uncompressed PAL
    cheers
