    Hello

When Mixdown using ‘current settings’, what i filmed, captured and edited in 16×9 mixes down in 16×9. If i use anything other than current setting (even anamorphic settings) i get a totally useless 3×4 mixdown. Usually, after troubleshooting for half the day, or resizing on the timeline to compensate for fcp’s failure to do what i want, i can get it 16×9 – but with black edges (whatever, at least i can post it on youtube an it’s not all stretchy).

I usually run into this problem when i need to make a smaller file for the web.

Sometimes i can get it to work using compressor (h264 setting), but that’s really a shot in the dark.

Naturally, i write down what i did to get it to work correctly – but usually this problem will come up again with a new project, and I’m stuck troubleshooting again.

    What gives?

Why wouldn\’t you export with QT conversion or compressor and specify the dimensions exactly?

If you\’re working in 4×3 then that\’s probably what you\’ll get. Anamorphic sd is a 4×3 pixel count, as is dvcprohd, hdv, etc
