I just shot 16×9 (not HD) Sony BetacamSp and want to import it into FCP4. I am using my uncompressed 8 bit component AJA setting and the footage looks stretched which is correct. I can’t find a correct timeline setting in fcp to make the footage fill the 16×9 screen….Any thoughts??

Also when I import the footage the aspect listed after the capture is 720×486 for the 16×9 is this correct??

Thanks in advance for the help…

Ummm, unless your footage is anamorphic (which it should be if you shot to BetacamSP), then you need to tell FCP that your footage is anamorphic when you capture it. Beyond that, the AJA Io is not specifically geared towards 16:9 footage.

What camera did you use? I know our DXC-D35ws at work will indeed record 16:9 images to BetacamSP. Have not tried it with the AJA though.

Captured with anamorphic preset selected in FCP and that did the trick.

    Thanks

You can change the setting of a clip after it’s captured as well. There is a checkbox both in the browser and in the clips info/settings dialogbox. This goes for both videoclips and sequences.

Just for reference – might safe you some headake 🙂
