I am editing together still images in FCP that I burned to a SD DVD. I used sequence settings of HDTV 720p (1280×720). In Studio Pro, I used 16×9 setting in the preferences and used 16×9 pan scan in the Display Mode.

When I play the DVD on a widescreen tv, the image appears larger(zoomed in) and results in the cutting off of titles that I put in the title-safe area. I tried finding adjustments in the menu of the tv and dvd player, but no additional settings were found (tv was set to 16×9).

Is this problem caused by my using the HD 720p setting in the sequence? Would using a 1080i sequence setting solve the problem? I am a distance away from the test site, so it is difficult to run back and forth to test my different theories.

    Thanks,

    Brian C.

Change the your track and menu Display Mode to 16×9 letterbox in DVD Studio.

You do know that you cant use HD footage on a DVD, right?

Downconvert your assets to SD during your MPEG-2 encode in Compressor. If you are in NTSC, your dimensions should be 720 x 480 (which all the NTSC SD DVD presets are in Compressor).

Thank you for your suggestions. I was able to do another test and when I changed the sequence settings in Final Cut to 1920×1080 (HDTV 1080i) it all worked.
