    I am editing together still images in FCP that I burned to a SD DVD. I used sequence settings of HDTV 720p (1280×720). In Studio Pro, I used 16×9 setting in the preferences and used 16×9 pan scan in the Display Mode.

    When I play the DVD on a widescreen tv, the image appears larger(zoomed in) and results in the cutting off of titles that I put in the title-safe area. I tried finding adjustments in the menu of the tv and dvd player, but no additional settings were found (tv was set to 16×9).

    Is this problem caused by my using the HD 720p setting in the sequence? Would using a 1080i sequence setting solve the problem? I am a distance away from the test site, so it is difficult to run back and forth to test my different theories.

    Change the your track and menu Display Mode to 16×9 letterbox in DVD Studio.

    You do know that you cant use HD footage on a DVD, right?

    Downconvert your assets to SD during your MPEG-2 encode in Compressor. If you are in NTSC, your dimensions should be 720 x 480 (which all the NTSC SD DVD presets are in Compressor).

    Thank you for your suggestions. I was able to do another test and when I changed the sequence settings in Final Cut to 1920×1080 (HDTV 1080i) it all worked.
