16:9 SD editing
Working on a 16:9 project – final product is a DVD to be played on a plasma screen at client’s exhibit booth. So rather than having the stretched image as is typical, we are cutting the project in 16:9 SD NTSC.
As a test I exported a short sequence to DV-AVI. This played in windows media player appears 4:3 (is this because it is anamorphic?)
Importing the AVI into Encore, the PAR is correct, and if i have Encore transcode the video, it plays back correctly on DVD. Set the DVD player to anamorphic or letterbox and it is correct in both cases. My Media Encoder in Premiere 2.0 is not working for some reason, but short of reinstalling Premiere (disks in another state at the moment) I imported the AVI into Sorenson Squeeze and rendered MPEG-2. The MPEG-2 setting does not let you choose the aspect ration, and the resulting MPEG-2 imported into Encore does not let me alter the PAR, and DVD playback of this file is 4:3, no letterbox, with the left and right sides of the image lopped off. Is Squeeze the problem here?
I still need to try exporting the MPEG-2 out of the Premiere 16:9 project directly.
ThanksMike
