i’m about to purchase a 16GB card for my new camera and was just wondering if anyone had anything to say about the SONY cards versus the SANDISK ones.
i imagine they’re made to the same specs, just wondering if anyone had any experience or knowledge they wanted to share

i’ve found the SANDISK card on ebay for $820. any one know of any better online deal?

I heard that SanDisk has always made the cards for Sony. Take this as just a rumor. I don’t know for sure. Personally, I’m not going to buy any more cards until the 32’s come out. Might drop the price of the 16’s when they do.

I imagine they are completely identical in terms of performance and reliability. Hopefully a price war will break out though with only Sony and Sandisk so far this may take a while.

    Don,

[Don Greening] “I heard that SanDisk has always made the cards for Sony.”

At the Sony Seminar at HD Expo here in Chicago about 10 days ago, the presenters let the cat out of the bag, and I don’t think that they were kidding.

That made me laugh out loud. Thanks Ron.

The funny thing is why has it taken Sandisk so long to make the cards under their own name if they’re already making them for Sony.

I got the Sandisk version in NY at Abel Cinetech, several weeks ago it was a shade less than $800.

    Craig,

I’m sure it’s all in the corporate partnership agreements, whether based on time or aggregate quantity sold, or some other formula.

We just bought 2 – 32 gig Sony cards from Shaine at Media Distributors in LA. The price was good.
