1440 vz 1920
Ok, so I finally thought of what’s been bugging me. I understand that HDV is basically:
1} 1920×1080 “squished” as part of its compression to fit onto tape
2} when captured, it plays back at 1920×1080 through Quick Time
2} in FCP it says the frame size is 1440×1080Right, now obviously 1440 by 1080 is actually a 4:3 resolution, hence why it plays back at 1920×1080 (which is correct 16:9). Now my question is, why then, if you make the canvas size 1920 by 1080 in FCP, does it pillar box the footage?
