1/4 inch jacks vs. XLR
Posted by Scott Davis on January 2, 2006 at 9:34 pmi just bought my first pair of really nice monitors. I have the option of connecting via 1/4 phone type jacks or XLR. What is the difference? I am using them on my NLE and really they are for basic mixing; nothing to fancy.

January 2, 2006 at 9:46 pmIf you mean the speakers have inputs for 1/4″ or XLR, well as long as the 1/4″ inputs are balanced i.e. they take the TRS (tip ring sleeve) jacks then there is no difference. It should state this near the inputs or in the docuentation specs of your speakers.
