128GB SSD too small?
Hey.
I’m about to buy a MacBook Pro 15-inch, but I can’t decide wether to go with a 750 GB Serial ATA-HDD or a 128 GB SSD.
The MacBook will be used mainly for video editing in After Effects as well as some games, so I feel like 128 GB is way too small, and I can’t afford the 256 GB SSD either.
But I really wan’t the computer to be fast and easy to work with, so an SSD would be ideal but I just can’t afford a bigger one.Is there any options to this or should I just go with the 750 Serial ATA-HDD?

The 128GB SSD will barely run your OS and your applications. You should go with the 750GB, unless, of course, there’s an option to add a Thunderbolt external drive that could be the SSD. Are you looking to put your editing cache on the SSD, or run the OS from it? There will be people who know more than I do showing up soon, so think about your needs.

I think I wanna run the OS from it. But I’ve been reading around a lot and I think the best option for me would be to go with the 750GB HDD and buy an Optibay SSD later as well as upgrading the RAM to 16GB.
Or does anyone have a better solution to this?

You may also want to look into running your AE and PPro memory caches from the SSD. Here’s a short discussion with Todd Kopriva weighing in on SSDs for the AE cache:

I think that’s a pretty wise course of action.
You are not getting the Retina display, right? Retina machines are not upgradeable like this.
