Don’t waste your money. Learn to edit faster, get faster processors and more of them, get more RAM, and get a big fast RAID, but money spent on a 10000 RPM system drive will most likely net just a few seconds faster boot time.

I’ve got a few 10k drives in a DAW PC and their main advantage over the 4 7200 drives I could’ve bought for the price of each 10k drive is bragging rights. Access speeds and throughputs are a little faster, but nowhere near enough to justify the price difference compared to 7200RPM drives. If you need super-fast drive access, especially for video work, you need a RAID. And don’t even think of stocking that RAID with 10k drives. That’s useless. Burning the money would at least produce some heat. 10k drives have been around for quite a while and the adoption rate has been very poor. There are good reasons for that.

Unless impressing your too-nerdy friends is a top priority, the money would yield better performance elsewhere.
