The question is: Should after effects really say (show) that a 10bit clip have millions of collors?
Do after effects really treat the clip as 10 bit then when I use it in an 16 bit comp? -

Only 16-Bit formats like Microcosm codec will show up with trillions.By the way, take a look at this thread:
