1080p30 to m2v
my source footage (shot with a Sony HVR-Z7U) is 1080p30, captured to and edited in Final Cut on a timeline with the setting “HDV-1080p30 FireWire basic”.
Using Compressor, what is the best process to get the highest quality m2v for DVD production? Is it possible to compress directly from the HDV timeline, or should an intermediary codec be used before mpeg compression? What are the optimal settings for mpeg2 compression from the source?

Hi Leif,
You would have been better off capturing to ProRes to begin with, but short of that, change the compressor of your sequence to ProRes and render. Then, DON’T send from the timeline, export a self-contained movie to send to Compressor.
You can process the file to widescreen or crop off the sides for SD. Compressor will interpret the frame rate correctly.
