I want to supplement a short I’m shooting on the red @ 23.98 with a Canon 5d Mark II. The only problem is the mark II only shoots 1080p/30. Will 1080p/30 footage interpolate to 23.98 relatively intact using AE or will there always be a noticeable stutter/difference? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!

loud and clear on the 23.98 shorthand.
re: the camera, I’m looking for a low cost/ high ease of use camera to shoot in HD on a project when using a RED is highly impractical. My frustrations with its specs are the same as yours, but I can get the mark II for free, and there don’t seem to be any cameras like that that shoot native 23.976. …are there?

    thanks for the help!

23.976 is to 29.97 as 24 is to 30. Multiply 29.97 times 0.8, in other words. That’s where 23.976 comes from, in case you’re wondering.

Don’t all 24p video cameras add pulldown to give 29.97? If so, then any video camera that shoots in a 24p mode should do the job. You just remove the pulldown in AE. I could be wrong, though, being old and out of touch …
