1080p24 footage is 1030p30 in fcp HELP!
so i have P2 footage that was shot at 1080p24. it’s coming into final cut at 1080p30 29.97. i’ve read about other people having this problem, but i haven’t found the answer yet.
1. i’ve tried to reverse telecine, but fcp won’t execute that command. no error message. just nothing happens.
2. i’ve tried to reverse telecine using compressor. all the settings come out correctly, frame rate, frame size, and compression (apple pro res HQ), but the footage looks terrible.
3. i tried to convert it using compressor, without reverse telecine. i get the right frame size and compression. cinema tools does allow me to reverse telecine, but again, the footage looks terrible.
4. i know i’m not supposed to remove pulldown when log and transfering, correct?
5. I even tried the deinterlace filter with upper selected and it’s the best thing i’ve found yet. but it’s certainly not ideal.
PLEASE HELP! i would love any input. please be as detailed as possible.

Hi Meg,
I may be wrong (never used P2 and I’m a PAL-lander) but have a look to this doc:https://documentation.apple.com/en/finalcutpro/professionalformatsandworkflows/Final%20Cut%20Pro%207%20Professional%20Formats%20and%20Workflows%20(en).pdf
I think that when you make the Log&transfer is the moment to remove the Pulldown.
