1080p video black but there is sound
Posted by Josh Wrenn on July 3, 2012 at 5:58 pmI have a 08 Macbook pro I can get my 1080p footage off of my camera and it will play in quicktime just fine as a 1080p video. When I go to import it into FCPX the screen goes black but the audio still works. Anyone have any suggestions?

July 3, 2012 at 6:32 pmA little more information might help. What camera are you talking about? What format does it shoot? What format did you shoot if it shoots multiple formats? What’s your video recorded on?
All the best,
Tom

July 3, 2012 at 7:30 pmI am using a Samsung https://www.samsung.com/sg/consumer/camera-camcorder/camcorders/hd-camcorders/HMX-H300BP/SEA that’s the camera. It shoots on H.264 that’s the only format it shoots. It’s recorded to the SD card PNY 16GB capable of doing full HD video. Like I said Whenever I bring it over to the computer it is playable and looks amazing but when it goes into FCPX it turns black but does play audio.
Sorry for lack of information the first time. Thanks for the help really appreciated.

July 3, 2012 at 7:52 pmNo Samsung cameras are supported by FCP. They shoot a proprietary format that doesn’t import into the application. You might see if you can use Compressor or MPEG Streamclip to convert the media to QuickTime ProRes or some other format that can be imported into FCP.
